Apollo 10: The Dress Rehearsal
Show the full video description ›Hide the video description
During Apollo 9, a crewed flight of the complete Apollo spacecraft had been achieved. Humans had flown the Command and Service Module and Lunar Module, going through all the steps of separation, staging, and docking again. But this had occurred in Low Earth Orbit. With Apollo 10, it was time to bring this activity all the way out to the moon. The purpose of this mission was to repeat these tasks in the more uncertain environment of lunar orbit, while also gathering important information about the Apollo 11 landing site. While often overshadowed by the moon landing to come, this was a very important and exciting mission, so let's get a closer look!
